Arun Dey was arrested in Teghoria near Kolkata on Thursday morning and was sent in judicial custody by a city court till 4 July.
Kolkata: Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) arrested 50 -year -old Arun Dey on Thursday in connection with murder Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activist Abhijeet Sarkar In 2 May 2021, Violence After the announcement of West Bengal assembly elections.
Day was arrested on Thursday morning in Teghoria near Kolkata. He was produced before a local judge and was sent to judicial custody by 4 July.
“A mob tied a television wire around my brother’s neck and dragged it on the road. They broke their head with a stone. Dey alias Bhai (brother) was the one who tied the wire and dragged it,” said the brother of the deceased.
The first information report (FIR) filed by Abhijeet’s brother Biswasjit named 20 people. The CBI has arrested 15 people till date.
The Abhijeet Sarkar was taken out of his house in Narkeldanga, Kolkata and was killed after the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and returned to power in West Bengal for the third consecutive time.
On August 19, 2021, the Calcutta High Court ordered a CBI inquiry into a court-linked CBI inquiry against women on charges of murder and crime.
