Mumbai: Bandra-Kurla Complex, one of the major business hubs in the city, is known for struggling with a human-bunn-wise-wide struggle. The 41 dragon was rescued from the surrounding area in June, indicating only one rage in recent years.

Wildlife experts’ phones – independently as well as NGOs such as Wildlife Animal Protect and Rescue Association (WARA) – and forest officials around Bandra have buzzed with a distressed call for Python rescue in June. “Some calls come from corporate offices, other people are from pedestrians, gardeners and construction workers,” said Atul Combal, a snake catcher.

According to the records created by the Wildlife Rescue Team, the first rescue was on 4 June. “Recently, we saved a python that fell from an air conditioning duct inside a corporate office conference room,” said Kamble, an independent snake catcher. The events of the philosophy of Python have become so common in the region that rescuers on the columns starting from the Eastern Express Highway Connector are displayed – for immediate access in BKC. “Although this is very common, the number of rescue this year has been important,” he said.

The largest number of snakes was found during a rescue operation starting on the night of 25 June, when wildlife rescuers Kaushik Keni received a crisis call from a laborer at 11 am in one of the construction sites near the metropolitan buildings next to the Mithi River.

“When we reached the spot, we found a child pythan that was run by a car. It was still alive and needed medical treatment. A few meters away from this, there were two more of them around a police van. Thinking that we can find more at that place, we can start searching for them,” Kenny said, “Kenny said, whose team was found in the area around that day.

“It appears as if he had just gone out in a sewer and came on the road demanding heat from the asphalt,” Kenny explained. Veterinarians of NGOs examined 10 pythons, gave a medical report and immediately rehabilitated them back to the wild.

Kenny said that Python, which has ended in mangrove areas, is a primary resident of BKC. However, recent underground metro construction and other constructions in the region have put their residence in danger.

When Dharavi was considered on the outskirts of the Bombay City, most of the snakes that were caught by the rescue teams would rehabilitate them behind it near the Bandra-Sise Link Road, which is now known as Maharashtra Nature Park. Ahead of the park, the Mithi River and Mangroves flow, which are residence for these snakes. “The dragon has a tendency to go beyond his residence to expand its colonies, but they end up on the busy streets of Bandra,” the blanket said.

“Another reason they come out of their natural habitat, the ongoing work for the metro (line 2B). Construction noise and vibrations are unbearable for them,” a forest official said that about 15 out of 45 dragons from BKC in June saved about 15.

Pythons are non-venomous snakes that take shelter in drainage lines during monsoon, which is their hatching season, as it provides them a favorable climate. They not only achieve easy access to fodder, but also a suitable temperature.

Other snakes rescued from BKC in June include Cobra, Russell’s vipers, and buff stripped kilbac.

Rescue experts urged people to reach the authorities, as careless exercise could lead to a chaotic situation. The forest official said, “According to the guidelines, once rescued snakes fit medically, we safely send them to a distant place at their natural habitat, where they cannot return to a human settlement,” said the forest officer.
