6 big changes: Delta talks retrofits, new aircraft and maybe another hub

While delta air lines Continues construction The award-winning business-class-keval lounge, the most exclusive onboard experience of the airline still leaves a lot to be desired on the majority of its twin-Issal jets.

For example, if you are departing in delta forest on a long flight from Seattle, then you are the auditions that you are enjoying a fully attached suite with a slipping door. This is because Delta is currently deploying its latest international aircraft, such as Airbus A330-900NEO and Airbus A350, Currently.

But if you are flying from other hubs of the airline like Atlanta or New York, then you increase the obstacles that you will be sitting in an inferior product on Boeing 767-300 or Old Airbus A330.

bargain hunting: When is the best time to book flights for the cheapest plane fare?

In fact, while Delta One Airline’s long-hall is the name of business experience, your onboard experience will be very different based on the aircraft you fly.

But the reports will probably be welcomed by Delta Lylists, which are large upgrade to Delta One Flyers. Better yet, the airline has a group of updates during its network and fleet plan that should be encouraged in any way Delta skymiles frequent flyer.

Here you have to know everything from my interview with Paul Baldoni, Daleta’s newly appointed senior vice -president network planning.

Delta is coming on a suit A330

Perhaps the most exciting update that Baldoni shared that the Legacy Airbus A330-200 and Airbus A330-300 fleet will soon be retrofit with delta one suit.

Baldoni did not offer more details, different from confirming that these jets will be “prepared” in the next few years.

The A330 K -200 and -300 variants currently have reverse herringbone business -pods with direct corridors for each passenger. While this product was at the top when it was introduced, it has now lost its lead in the market with more modern, huge and personal suites.

Delta Boeing will not re-establish 767-400 fleet, Baldoni explained, because those aircraft have already sports Amended version of delta one suit Without slipping doors.

The only wide body aircraft that is not going to be completely fresh is Boeing 767-300. The airline recently refreshed a light refreshed for the delta one product on those aircraft-adding the new screen and refreshing the seatback cover-but 767-300 will be the only jet that will not receive the delta one suit according to Baldoni.

This is because 767-300 is on the path of retirement.

He said, “We are retiring the number of those aircraft every year, and at this point the number of routes they are on will become small and small.”

Delta will replace these retired aircraft in the coming years with new Airbus A330-900neos and Airbus A350s. All these aircraft will be given a factory fresh with delta one suites.

Airbus A350 Retrofits

Zach Griff/The Points Gai

With Airbus A330 Retrofits, Delta is in the process of harmonizing the configuration of its Airbus A350s.

Right now, there are three types of layouts of passenger housing for the A350.

The oldest is a configuration Delta inherited from Latam When it used Airbus A350s from South American Baazigar.

Those aircraft have 2–2-2 layouts in business classes, and they do not even offer any premium select cabin. It is internally known as “35L” layout.

That new-plane smell: First delta Air Lines Jet sports its all-new cabin look

The second dated LOPA is the 32 delta one suit, the original “359” configuration of the delta which is for its major long-hall jet. (This aircraft received a minor retrofit with comfort+in recent years.)

Finally, there is a new premium-Haavi configuration, which is dubbed “35H”, which expands the delta one suit cabin up to 40 pods, but it comes at the price of eight premium select recliners and 31 standard economy seats.

With such a mission of layouts and products, it was great to hear Baldony saying that “we are converting all our A350s into 35h configurations.”

The airline starts with pre-layer aircraft as they are the oldest. It plans to complete those retrofits by the end of the year.

According to Baldoni, it will cycle through the remaining A350s by the end of 2027.

Premium A321Neo Payment

Zach Griff/The Points Gai

It is an open secret that the delta is planning a subflate of A321NEOS in the delta premium-thunder configuration.

The airline did not confirm these schemes until Baldoni said on Tuesday that “we are ready for A321neos that will come up with flat-bed seats.”

It turns out, the delta already has some of these A321neos sitting in storage in Victorville, California. Why are brand-new jets sitting in storage? Well, “We are still waiting for seat certification,” Baldony explained.

Although no one is telling when seats can be certified, Baldoni knows where he is going to deploy these jets.

“We are going to keep it in places where we have a domestic delta a service today,” he said.

This includes premium transcontinental routes, such as Los Angeles to Los Angeles and San Francisco and Boston to Los Angeles.

He said, the delta has “about 20” of these jets on the order, so there is definitely place for other routes.

While the secondary city in Europe can be a good option for premium A321NEO, the Baldony transatlantic-sheer flights are not accelerated.

“As we look at Europe, we expect those flights to be operated on a wide range,” he explained.

For example, it is estimated by someone where these aircraft will fly.

More domestic premium select route

Premium transcontinental flying talk, delta Upgrade all its flights Last summer between New York and Los Angeles with premium economy seats.

It is “done very well in the market,” and Delta is going to create the product at that success by expanding the product for all flights between New York and San Francisco.

There is no timeline for this when it will happen, besides the network planning team is a close priority.

Austin as the next hub?

Pre-Coreonwirus epidemic, delta had five focus cities: Austin; Cincinnati; Nashville; Rale-Daham, Northern Carolina; And San Jose, California.

As the carrier emerged from the epidemic, it doubled on Austin and Rale-Daham, while informally left the remaining airports with its focus city strategy.

While the delta continues to expand into Rale-Daham, the airline is investing something huge in Austin.

Baldony said, “We have got great success in Austin. We like the demographic trends that we see in Austin.

As the delta keeps growing in Austin, an infection in a hub from a focus city may soon occur as much as you know.

“We are now reaching close to 80 departure in a day [along with our partners]When we get approximately 120 daily departure, you start building some of the connectivity you call a hub, whether we call Austin a hub or not, “according to Baldony.

While “we are not really there yet,” Baldoni said that “we want to continue the construction of Austin mainly for the local customer, but it will have a natural result connecting traffic.”

Consider this one development.

Seattle gets the best product

Finally, the Eagle-IID observers may have seen in recent weeks that Delta has upgraded all its transpecutive service from Seattle to its Airbus A330-900neo and A350 fleet.

Baldoni explained that this is a deliberate step that “does not belong to competition,” its plan to convert Alaska Airlines and Seattle into one. International gates As part of its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines.

Instead, it comes down to the increased cargo capacity of these jets, as well as with high density of premium seats, it can now sell in these markets, according to Baldoni.

In an era when premium products are all anger, it makes sense to deploy its best aircraft to the delta strategically in a market, where it can use its onboard product as a major discrimination.
