Smartphones now dominate global web traffic, latest data shows

Smartphones are ruling in global web traffic, with a new report today it is revealing that 64% of all of them actually comes from the smartphone. This is not a great surprise, of course, given how the prevailing smartphones have become and how, if you have one, it is likely to be the main equipment with which you web browsing, but at least we have a real percentage to speak at least now.

Shift to smartphones from desktops and laptops is now an ongoing digital trend, and has steadily increased mobile web traffic since mid -2012. There are EBBS and flow, but overall, as you can see below, Q1 since 2015, the trend is clearly upwards. 64% of all web traffic is a new record, by the way, with the previous one of 62.71% in the last quarter. In fact, as part of the clan, there is an increase in eight consecutive quarters for mobile web traffic.

Regional, in Asia, the total web traffic is the way to be 71.3% mobile, while the number in the US and Europe is about 50% – so the global dominance of mobile web traffic can basically be attributed to Asia’s priority.

If we look at the distribution of that mobile traffic through the OS lens, Android is clearly dominated, as you expect it to have a market share in smartphone sales 72.72%, while iOS has 26.92%.
