Brian Wilson, the prestigious 1960s band the beach boys co-producers, die at the age of 82

Brian Wilson, The Legendary Frontman and the co-founder of The Beach Boys, died at the age of 82, his family announced.

His family said in a statement shared online, “We are breaking hearts to declare that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away.”

“We are currently in a disadvantage to words,” he said.

“Please respect our privacy at this time because our family mourns. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.”

Born in 1942 and raised in Hothorn, California, Wilson formed a group with his younger brothers Karl and Dennis, cousin Mike Love and friend Al Jardin.

He became one of the country’s largest rock band, The Beach Boys.

According to the group’s website, one of the most commercially successful bands of all time, he has sold more than 100 million records globally.

Music magazine Rolling Stone ranked him at 12 in the list of “100 greatest artists of all time”.

Wilson’s catalog with the group includes dozens of hit solo, including three numbers one single I Gate Around, Help Me, Ronda and Good Vibration.

He was known to use the recording studios to create particularly unique sounds, especially on the album abdomen sounds, which contributed to his reputation as a music pioneer.

Dear is earning tribute to the musician.

Frank Sinatra’s daughter Nancy Sinatra, who enjoyed a high-profile music career around the time of the beach boys, shared a photo with Brian Wilson on Instagram.

“His funded music will survive forever because he travels through the universe and beyond,” he wrote. “God Blace You, Sweet Brian.”

Beatles’ frontman John Lennon and YoCo Ono’s son Ono Lennon called Wilson “American Mozart” and “one of a kind talent from another world”.

“Anyone who really knows me knows how much I am breaking the heart with Brian Wilson,” he wrote on X.

“Many people did not impress me as much as he did. I feel very lucky that I was able to meet him and spend some time with him. He was always very kind and generous.”

Wilson lost his wife Melinda in 2024. The couple had been married for 24 years, and adopted their children together Dakota Rose, Daria Rose, Delani Rose, Dylan and Dash.

Wilson also had two daughters, Carney and Wendy from his first marriage.

According to Forbes, the composer was diagnosed in 1984 as a paranoid schizophrenic, when doctors found evidence that their brain damage was linked to the use of psychidelic drugs.

In February 2024, it was revealed that he had dementia.
