South Africa’s Aiden Markram might just have played the most important knock of his cricketing career, as the batting all-rounder after getting dismissed for a 6-ball duck in the first innings, has scored a match-defining ton vs Australia in the 2nd innings of the Proteas, as they now need only 69 runs to win the World Test Championship 2025 Final.
The challengers have ended their Day 3 at the score of 213/2, as the last two sessions belonged to the duo of Aiden Markram & Temba Bavuma, who will carry on from their unbeaten partnership of 143 on Day 4.
Aiden Markram, after the conclusion of the match, will go down in the Honours’ Board at the Lord’s, but the Proteas batter will be looking to end the barren run of his side with title triumph on Saturday.

Wiaam Mulder Reflects On SA’s Dominant Day 3
“The chase took away the fear of failure. We just wanted to go at whatever they post. I think if you look at the way we played the first innings, there was fear of failure. The message was simple. They will bowl good balls and you have to put away the loose balls.”
“Batting at three is a new thing for me. It’s a learning curve. I will get better if I get chances. Those two guys (Bavuma & Markram) have been doing the work through adversity. They are the two guys who have put the South African cricket first. They have pushed themselves and you can see them drained when they walked off.”
“(On the pitch) It was quite slow today. The movement was very low than the first two days. Even when we were bowling today, it was quite slow and not enough movement today.”
