This is the one that is made of Avagek dream.
Many of us in TPG found a rear view in American Airlines Fort Worth, Texas Headquarters, Training Facilities and Operations Centers. We also got close to and individual with the operation of the Dalas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), the second most busy airport in the US and the airport in the US mega-hub.
We saw something here.
American Airlines headquarters at Fort Worth
American Airlines has invited TPG to its huge campus for some time since opening back in 2019.
This time, TPG Senior Aviation Reporter Scene hurtIssue and Miles lead reporter Katie JenterAviation managing editor Ben Mutzabogg And I got a prestigious invitation to the airline “Skyview” – and we took the most advantage of it.
While we did not have time to see close to everything in the 300 -acre premises, we saw some highlights.
Headquarters cost one Estimated $ 350 million – and it shows.
DFW suggested that the entire campus may represent the same as Investment of $ 1 billion By airline. Onworld, the global airline alliance is part of the American, Went to the campus In 2022.

Walking in, you want to look upwards on the first roof, which is designed to get similar from inside the jet engine.

The main building is filled with aviation-theme artwork, such as the huge seat belt sculpture below.
We all enjoyed sculpture in another lobby made of security cards. I loved seeing the card for the aircraft, which no longer fly, who brought back some happy memories of flying Airbus A330s He retired during the American epidemic. I met those jets to fly in the days when they belonged to US Airways.

The wall of the model of the airplane wanted me to put something in my suitcase. I have found some airplane models at home, but there is no one from American Airlines.
The entire building had aviation-theme art.
Also on performance: American Airlines Cabin Crew Uniform Accessories.
Of course, the engine model was a big hit with TPG.
Odes also increased to the employee cafeteria to fly, including an engine fan blade chandelier.
American also showed some of it Latest bed and new amenity kitThe airline will continue to use the existing amenity kit, but it is also mixing in new kits from beauty retailer thirteen luns at Los Angeles, as well as with lotions and lip balm by brands such as Joanna classes and relevant.

The bed is also getting a major upgrade: American single-use is digging plastic and making new pillows and blankets from recycled materials. The blanket is again branded by John Horsfall from the thread collection, and the slippers and the pajamas are from the Nest.

American Airlines’ Integrated Operations Center
As part of the tour, the American showed the integrated operating center, essentially the airline’s nerve center. This place is huge, which is a clock in 149,000 sq ft.
The Center handles more than 20 unique airline tasks, with some 1,700 employees 24/7, which work to run the American smoothly.
Workers handle the crew’s scheduling and tracking, central load planning, cargo operations control, inflite operations support, meteorology, dispatch, maintenance and customer service in other tasks. There are screens and computers everywhere, and various pods of workers are spread over a cavernus space. There is also a huge conference chamber that is active in case of irregular operations or other problems.

One of the largest areas of the room is a raised platform in the center of the IOC called the American “The Bridge”. On its website, the American says that this is the place where “the duty director works with all the tasks that safely and efficiently, securely run seven days a week. Major IOC Workgroup also represents the bridge to share quick and efficient information and ensure cooperation.”
The American says it tracks 1,500 aircraft and over 6,000 flights every day.
As an aviation fan, I was even more excited to see all the airline memorabilia in the entire operation center.

American Airlines flight training academy
American has conducted a very strong training in his Fort Worth Campus. The DFW Flight Training Academy trains hundreds of pilots every month. American said, “Each year, American pilots conduct security and preparations on thousands of emergency scenarios and malfunctions, operate millions of challenging flight training miles.”
Take a look at the mock-up of the aircraft’s life-size with a swimming pool to train on water landing.

The Airbus was also a full -sized model of the aircraft like the A321T, where flight attendants could train in a real -life environment.

Even gates are established to train assistant employees. Standing in this room, you feel that you were inside the terminal of an airport.
Skyview 3 House American Flight Training Academy, Simulator and Classroom. We were twisted using one of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner Flight Simulator; There are 30 mainline full-flight simulators at this place alone in American!

It was an incredible experience to drain and land into the simulator – the bucket list item examined the list there.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) Control Room and Operations
We also found a look around the nerve center for American hub operation in DFW. Behind an otherwise plain -looking door, there was a lift that took us to the top of a building with dozens of dozens of workstations filled with hundreds of screen.

Individual employees were tracking every aspect of flying on time, from catering to boarding. These are the people who combine the puzzle running the most busy hub operation of American together.
I worked in television control rooms for most of my life before joining TPG. It was like a cable news control room, only on steroids.
Each gate and every aircraft, and various shots of the apron and runway are tracking.
It was very impressive seeing how much work it is to keep the runway operation of American Airlines on track.
Termac and apron on DFW
American also showed some busy “apron” areas in DFW, where aircraft are loaded with cargo, food and accessories before each flight.

This trip to the American Airlines Campus and DFW goes down as one of all my favorite Avgeeek experiences, and I am very happy that American shared us a little bit with you.
I am hoping to travel another in the campus at some point so that I can see CR Smith Museum and Employee hotel It opened in January 2023.
Among all, it is one of the best airline complexes in the world, and hopefully serves as an inspiration for lucky employees that get it to call the house (even for short training period).
