India’s star wicketkeeper-Batterish Pant fought to make a remarkable comeback in professional cricket through 635 days of recovery, rehabilitation, several surgery and intensive physiotherapy.

When India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was brought to a hospital in Mumbai after serious injuries in a car accident in December 2022, the first question that he asked was to the doctor present was “Will I be able to play again?” Recalled the famous orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Dinshaw Pardwala, who treated superstar cricketer after a terrible incident.
On December 30, 2022 for his hometown, Rokey from Pant, Delhi, he lost control of his car, crashed into a divide and suffered serious injuries. He was taken out of the Mangald month, and Pardwala said, “Rishabh Pant was very lucky to survive – very lucky.”
“When he first came, he had a right knee. He was hurt even on his right ankle, all other minor injuries were very small injuries. He was very short of skin, so his entire skin was completely closed to his knees with neck measurements,” Pedivala explained the crash.
He said, “Then getting out of the car – that the broken glass scored a lot of skin and meat from his back.”
In the pants, the fighter tolerated 635 days of recovery, rehabilitation, many surgery and widespread physiotherapy to make a winning comeback in professional cricket, a fight-box that has become one of the most charming stories in sports.
Paradwala said, “To be in an accident in this way, where the car really turns and blows up, the risk of death is very high,” Pardiwala said, a few days after seeing his patient in full flow, breaking the ball easily and playing a back-to-box stroke for the back-to-box for the centuries in the opening test in the opening test in Headingly.
Pardiwala said that Pant was extremely lucky to not lose blood supply in his right leg, which, given the severity of injuries, because it could have caused serious complications including dissection.
“When your knee dislikes, and all ligaments are broken, a high probability of the nerve or main blood vessel is also injured. If the blood vessel is injured, you usually have about four to six hours to restore the blood supply.
Pardiwala recalled that the pants were brought to his hospital in Mumbai that day, his first question was, “Are I going to be able to play again?”
His mother, however, was more practical, asking the surgeon: “Is she going to be able to walk again?”
Pardwala said the injuries were so bad that Pant needed a complete reconstruction of his knee.
“We had a long discussion about the fact that these are serious injuries – we need to re -organize the whole knee. Once we rebuild the whole knee, we have to work through a whole process of fixing it, let it recover, then get it back, get the original tasks back – limit, strength and stability.”
The Orthopedic surgeon performed four -hour surgery on the right knee of the pants on 6 January, 2023, reconstructed three ligaments and repaired Tendon and Meniscus. Pardiwala recalled that for several weeks after surgery, young cricketers could not brush their teeth.
“He lost a lot of skin, and so he could not really shake his hands. They were completely swollen. He could not actually take any of his hands in the beginning.”
Gradually, he started drinking water without help and then managed to walk without crutches after four months. But the surgeon pants had doubts about being able to play cricket again.
“Usually, when we organize these patients again they are happy to come back to normal life. If they can walk and do some least entertaining games, they are happy.”
“I said:” We can definitely make sure that he walks again. I am trying my best to make sure we can bring him back to play again. ” We really did not want to offer him too much in the beginning, but we wanted to give him hope. One step, of course, should have surgery.
“When we discussed it just after the surgery, the way I told him that the fact that you are alive, the fact that your limbs are survived – this two miracles are down. If we bring you back to competitive cricket, this is a third miracle. Let’s just hope for everything, and then take a step at a time.”
But the pants were determined to return to the field and started setting the deadline for itself.
“His question was then: ‘Okay, assuming that we manage to reach there, how long is it going to happen?” I said: ‘Perhaps watching 18 months to return to competitive cricket.’
He moved to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and stayed there for most of the 2023.
“Their full purpose ‘take me back to the normal situation as soon as possible”. And we were trying to ensure that we were just optimal, not very low, but not too much. His recovery was very fast as we had estimated. It was:’ Nothing. ‘ He pushed hard compared to ordinary people.
