While speculation revolves on possible changes under the leadership of the party, senior Congress leaders have denied any such scheme. KPCC Executive Chairman GC Chandrashekhar said, “Surjewala is going to hear only complaints. Some MLAs were worried, and they will talk to them in smaller groups.” “There is no discussion on the change of leadership. Such reports are completely baseless.”
During his three -day stay, Surjewal is expected to meet MLAs from Bangalore and Mysuru regions. He will hold separate conversations with MLAs like BR Patil, Raju Cage, and Basavaraj Reredi, who are unhappy with the functioning of the government.
Congress state president and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivkumar confirmed the meetings. Shivkumar told reporters, “He (Surjewal) will personally meet MLAs. He has already informed them, and I will send him a message about his visit.”
In Belagavi, Public Works Minister Satish Jerkiholi dismissed speculation about the change in the party’s leadership, responding to his ally KN Rajanna’s earlier comments. Rajanna had claimed that a big shake-up was coming after September, indicating that Jarkiholi could take over as the chairman of KPCC from DK Shivkumar.
Removing the comment, Jerkiholi said in Gokak, “Rajanna has said this before. But it is always the party high command that decides such things.”
