When I first saw a town shirt Sun Hoodi-with the multiplicity design of pink-and-white mountain laurel- I had to know the brand immediately.
The town shirt was the name, and Through-Haiking was its game. The brand combines the years of development of the region with air-style designs using flora and natives of organisms for the ecosystem of America’s most popular Through-Haik.
It was the chosen apparel of Matt Dobson, a northern Carolina Mountain Guide, which took me and many other journalists to increase through the Kala Loaib Trail. We were to test some equipment from a famous company, but I myself intrigued the hiking shirt of Dobson’s hiking shirt. Dobson, A Triple-crown thrue-hickerTold me that he wore a town shirt dress at a distance of thousands of miles.
I followed their recommendation by rapidly ordering a sun hoodi and button-up shirt. After several months of testing both pieces of apparel, they now rank between my favorite-thread.
In short: The apparel of the town shirt is completely associated with the through-hiking sensations. The shirt has many features that seek hardcore hikers, such as sun hoodi’s kangaroo pocket and thumb sleeve or dual chest pocket of button-up. They are quick-drying, wrinkles-resistant and highly durable. But the one who actually separates the town shirt is design. You will not find anything in REI to rival the depiction presented by the love of American wildlife and plants. These shirts were made for Through-Hackers.

Town Shirt Hawaiian shirt and Sun Hoodi Review

Many ultralight hikers will spend most of their trail-walking time either in a sun hood or shirt, often swapping between them based on heat level and sunlight. Add some strong shoes, durable shorts and a jacket, and you have found most threads that you will really need.
It is not surprising that both Sun Hoodi and button-up shirts of the town shirt did a great job for me on a long distance growth, international journey, river paddling trip, and wherever I took them. The brand dialon is a passion for “pickle” tonquiti, which is a Pennsylvania native, which grew up among the uplifting community of the Appalachian trail.
Tonkin and his wife have built a town shirt from the ground for the past several years. The name refers to the ability of Through-Hackers to wear both brand clothes on the footpath and when they enter one of the many cities in a good bar or restaurant in a restaurant that serve as a pit stop during these months of trail adventures lasting these months.
“If you go at once and all the other people are wearing your sports team jersey, you feel a little at home,” Tonkin told Gearjanki. “So I thought of making apparel with imagery that talks to the hikers,” Because I have a team. That was where the seed was planted. ”

Through-Haik Centered Design
Toncin works with several independent artists to create a design for the brand’s primary products: a sun hoodi and a small sleeve camp shirt.
He focused on reputed plants and animals from the US three Classic Through-Haik: The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), The Continental Divide Trail, and The Applaachian Trail (AT). However, all designs bends towards the aesthetics of an aerial style, which reflect the aerial shirts that have long been popular on PCT.
The shirts and hoodies include designs based on cute plants and animals by Tonkin and other Thru-Haikars, such as AT’s red EFT Salamander and Golden-Winged Warbaler or PCT’s Beeprtel Cactus.

Toncin provides some single-colored design for broad audiences. But most of his colorful, eye -catching design weekends are not to appeal to the warriors who do in the boardroom as they want to look smooth in the outdoor. Instead, the brand opposes designs that directly talk to Through-Hackers, a small, energetic community that often gives importance to self-expression and hippie engineering on alleged conditions or state-of-the-art innovations.
Casa de luna print Is an ideal example. This is a collaboration between Tonkin and Casa de Luna SharanWhich hosted the tired PCT hikers for 21 years until his closure in 2019. This design, with red EFT Salamander, quickly became the bestseller of the town shirt. Toncin gave consideration to the owners of the refugee, Joe and Terry Anderson, while PCT lived with him during the 2018 increase.
technical features
Do not make any mistake: The apparel of the town shirt is not just beautiful – this distance can also go.
Surely, there is hardly any external brand that does not make sun hoodies and technical button-up these days. But the costume of the town shirt is durable and tailor for hiking as a competition (and it is probably even better).

Button-up camp shirt
I chose red EFT Salamander Design Button Camp ShirtNot only this super-light and functional shirt has served me well during a bike ride, hike and travel days, but I have truly praised it wherever I have known. It is very beautiful.
Short-sleeve button-up is made of synthetic, light fabric. The initial designs of the shirt also included UPF protection, but Toncin dropped the feature when his customers said they did not care about it. He said that he also helped to bring down the price, he said. The shirt has two chest pockets (another big positive for me) and soft and stretch.
I think the shirt may be slightly more stretched in the shoulders, but for pure hiking, it is unlikely to be a negative for the most.

Sun hoodi
I am in my love like this Trillium-themed sun hoodiSun hoodi composed of 88% polyester and 12% spandex combines many characteristics that are important for hikers. This includes thumbhole for cuff and a kangaroo thach in the front.
It is moisture-dubki and quick-drying, and it provides 50 UPF Sun protection. My favorite part: There is a super-criminal hood with a button to prevent air from blowing.
Seriously, this hood is deep enough for a JD night, which I really want to always want any hood, but it is difficult to find. This is an ideal costume when you need full-body sun protection which still keeps you cool on this step. This is my Go-to backup apparel for almost any activity, especially during the hot summer months.

Town shirt: final decision
This apparel does not just function – it is also likely to initiate interaction with each experienced hicker you have passed.
Casa de luna print Is an ideal example. This is a collaboration between Tonkin and Casa de Luna SharanWhich hosted the tired PCT hikers for 21 years until his closure in 2019. Dobson (The Hiking Guide) told me that he wore his town shirt sun hood For more than 1,700 miles on PCT, and it is still ready to go to his cell. He has also consulted Toncin about various ways to improve clothes.
“The town shirt is perfectly recognizable with its print, but no mistake – it’s the performance gear,” Dobson told me. “The dialon has changed over the years through countless fabrics, cuts, and manufacturers. Being a thrus-hicker of them and to know what is needed means that these things are born of mark.”
I love both my city shirt Hoodi and Mary Red Eft button-upThe latter is perhaps the most comfortable button-up shirt that I had ever done, and the cavernus hood of Sun Hoodi allows me to get an internal focus like Zen. But I am lying if I did not love the constant compliments received while wearing them-and not only from the hikers, but also from random people on Atlanta bike trails or even my Spanish-speaking friends.
There is something special about such fabric that has a personal touch, and the design of tonkin increases that recognition in all.
