Delhi government school news: The Delhi government has taken a solid and practical step to improve the standard of education. During the academic year 2024-25, 56 such government schools in the capital have been identified, where the pass percentage of students in class 9th and 11th was less than 45%. Senior officials have been appointed mentors there for the purpose of improving the educational performance of these schools.

Role and responsibility of mentors

Each mentor has been given the responsibility of one school each. These officers will continuously guide the schools till the entire academic session and the next session (2025-26). Every fifteen days in fifteen days, they will visit the concerned school and upload their report on the MIS portal of the Education Department. This report will include student attendance, teaching quality, subject-wise performance, use of teaching materials and other important information related to school.

The government is already running programs like “Mission Mathematics” and “Enrichment Classes” to help weaker students in mathematics. Now mentors will ensure whether the benefits of these initiatives are reaching the students or not. They will pay special attention to improving the mathematical understanding of students from class 6 to 10, so that the basic calculation capacity of children is strong and their confidence will be increased.

Monitoring at district and zonal levels

District and zonal officers will also play an active role to maintain transparency and effectiveness of this entire process. They will review the mentors reports and provide additional resources or assistance to the schools if needed. If there is a continuous poor performance in a school, the responsibility of the officer concerned will be fixed.

This step of the Delhi government is considered important towards making the education system more responsible and result. Keeping in mind the especially weaker students, this decision is expected that the educational results of these schools will be improved in the next few years.
