A senior official from Iran has issued a warning suggesting that US President Donald Trump could be targeted at his Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago, amid tensions over past US actions in the Middle East. Javad Larijani, a prominent advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had made this threat.
According to a report by Iran International, Larijani said that Trump has done something that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago.
“Trump has done something that he can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago. As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It’s very simple,” Larijani said as quoted by Iran International.
The recent remarks come as a crowdfunding campaign called “Blood Pact” (Ahde Khoun in Farsi) has emerged online, offering a reward for killing the US president. Launched by pro-regime actors, the platform claims to be raising the funds to enact “retribution against those who mock and threaten the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.”
According to a Moneycontrol report, the campaign claimed that by the evening of July 7, it will have raised $20 million. The donations exceeded $27 million by the next morning. The ultimate goal, if it is to collect $100 million to fund the bounty against Trump.
“We pledge to award the bounty to anyone who can bring the enemies of God and those who threaten the life of Ali Khamenei to justice,” reads a message on the platform’s homepage.
Trump’s Inner Circle Concerned Amid Threat
Amid such developments, the inner circle of the US President has reportedly become concerned over the threat landscape.
“Big threats on my life by Iran,” Trump posted last September. “The entire US Military is watching and waiting.”
Earlier, the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, denied any official role in assassination plots against Donald Trump.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi ominously posted, “Iran reserves all options,” on X after a missile strike on a US military base in Qatar.
