Now you must be wondering what is special in this. There will be many such guns in the world. Super Power like China-America will definitely have such cannons. But you will not believe that it is the most modern cannon in the world in terms of range. Its firepower is 48 km. That is, this cannon can destroy the city of Lahore in Pakistan from any area of Amritsar district of Punjab. The distance from Amritsar to Lahore is just 50 km.
Deployment in 80 seconds
Another biggest feature of Atags is that it can be deployed in just 80 seconds. It can defend itself by changing its position in just 85 seconds in case of danger. Its moundet gun system is based on 8 × 8 high mobility truck. This truck can run at a speed of 90 km. This cannon can stain 10 high-exclusive shells in 2.5 minutes or five shells in 60 seconds. 85 percent of the parts in this ATAGS cannon are indigenous. The price of this one cannon is 15 million. While the price of such foreign cannons is 35 to 40 crores. DRDO started work in 2012 on this cannon. Today this cannon is ready to serve the Indian Army. In March this year, the Government of India made a deal to purchase 307 cannons for Rs 6900 crore. The first region (18 cannons) of this cannon will be found by February 2027.
