It is part of NHPC’s broad initiative to develop 125 MW / 500 MW standalone battery storage capacity in the state of Kerala, supported by feasibility gap funding under a tariff-based competitive bid framework.
The procurement agreement implemented under the Ministry of Power Guidelines will work under the 12 -year BESPA. The battery storage system has been slated to commission within 15 months, storage storage round-the-clock renewable power and grid as a major enabler of flexibility.
The project marks the first procurement agreement of TPrel in standalone Bass Section. With this addition, the total renewable capacity of TPrel is now about 10.9 GW, including 5.6 GW operating projects, including 4.6 GW solar and 1 GW air, and 5.3 GW under different stages of development.
