A British woman has died on a white-water rafting tour in the French Alps.
Regional prosecutor Marian Lozakhamur told the French news agency AFP that the woman fell from her fleet after noon (11:00 BST) on Saturday afternoon (11:00 BST) on the Gisen River in Briancon in South-Eastern France.
The firefighters told the local media that it was later found to be found before coming to a nearby hospital on Riverbank.
Lozac’hmeur said the victim “unfortunately died tomorrow evening”.
The Foreign Office confirmed that a British woman had died in France, and said it was in touch with local authorities.
According to local news outlet Le Doffin, the woman was part of an organized journey on the river and when it fell, she was known as a part of the river as “The Wallet”.
His name has not been nominated either in local media or by authorities in France or UK.
An “involuntary mangelotter” investigation was opened and a corpse examination will be conducted, Lazac ‘Hahur also said.
