Dhaka, Bangladesh has advised its citizens to avoid travel to India due to new and fast spreading sub -variants of Corona virus. The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) of Bangladesh has given this warning at a time when Kovid-19 cases have started increasing in many countries including India. In an official instruction released on Monday, Omikron’s new variants – LF.7, XFG, JN.1 and NB.1.8.1 have been said to spread rapidly. These variants have recently been identified in India and other neighboring countries.

DGHS has asked the citizens to avoid traveling to India or any other affected country unless there is an emergency. Along with this, strict screening of passengers has been directed at all airports, ports and border checkpoints of the country. In the notice, it is advisable to strictly adopt health prevention measures:

  • Wearing masks in public places
  • Frequent hand washing for 23 seconds
  • Keep away from sick people
  • Catch
  • Do not touch the face with dirty hands
  • The port officials have also been instructed to investigate passengers through thermal scanner and digital thermometer. Apart from this, adequate arrangements for PPE kits, masks and gloves have been asked in hospitals. This warning came at a time when a patient died of Kovid in Bangladesh last week.
