Zegtist of Arkansas Mountain Biking Centers at the north -western corner of the state. Cities like Fayetville, Bela Vista, and, of course, BentonvilleAll attract attention.

And perhaps it’s fine. Seeing a city like Bentonville, outdoor and mountain bikes have been so heavy in the infrastructure that has created a blueprint to follow other communities. Now, Cities across the country Mountain biking are gaining benefits that bring their communities, many people have been included as part of their urban planning initiative.

But the northwest is more in the state than in the western corner. Advocates and trail builders are equally hoping that Mountain Bikers will not forget the opposite corner. South East Arkansas has also been enjoying a footpath boom with a mile of miles in the last few years.

And is in more way.

New trails coming to Montislo, Arkansas

With a population of about 8,200 inhabitants, Monticello is one of the largest communities in South -East Arkansas. While the city has its roots in agriculture and wood, new industries like education have become an integral part of Montislo.

The University of Arkansas in Monticello establishes a community as a college city. As the only forestry school in the state, university is an important draw for forestry and agricultural students – a node for Monticello’s basic industries.

While the region is traditionally not known for its singletrack, a community of Mountain Bikers has gradually developed over the last few years, advocating the development of trails. The city of Monticello has responded by contracting Progressive mark design (PTD) to create singletrack.

PTD is a full-service trail design and build company located in Bentonville, Arkansas. Established in 2007, during the origin of Arkansas Trail Boom, PTD worked on projects like Collecter mountain bike preserves In Bentonville. However, they are also out of their Bentonville home, forming trails worldwide and worldwide.

“The sky is the boundary that can look like a mountain bike community [in Monticello]”Marketing director Rob Gunagale told us.” In general, trails and mountain bikings are very new to the area that will tell the time. ,

Despite the newness of the area for the game, things look good. The two -phase of the trail development will bring a singleTrac at a distance of 25 miles to the nearby Montiselo lake, with a plan to build a singleTrac that surrounds the lake completely. A local volunteer advocacy group – Trail organization of Arkansas Delta (Toad) – Already maintaining full trails and continues to promote more singleTrac in the area.

Lake winds trail system will eventually claim singletrack at a distance of 25 miles

In the fall of 2023, PTD wrapped the first phase of the trail building Lakewoods trail systemIn the north of the city, Montiselo is located in the Lake. Phase one of the LakeWoods Trails built in the eastern part of the lake, PTD manufactured a singletrack at a distance of about six miles spread in eight separate trails.

Trails Herold D. The West starts from Park, which is on the banks of the Montislo lake. The park also has a large and several small pavilion area, a playground, toilet and a dock to jump into the lake.

In the first phase of the system, PTD focused on the early-friendly trails and a skill park, with a skill park with wood characteristics such as skinies, bridges and rollers. Of the six-mile footpaths made by them, there are intermediate singletracks, about two miles, the remaining four-plus miles are early trails. While there is not much profit or loss, the trails are more pedal-flow concentrated, which consists of areas cutting the area through rapid turn and oak forests.

“Phase will add two an additional 11 miles,” Gunagale explained, given that the focus would be on the construction of the singleTrac that wrapped around the circumference of the Monticello Lake. In addition to this main loop, PTD plans to manufacture connector trails, which make alternative, large loops, give riders to circle the lake, detect extended loops or combine to combine both.

With a change in a height of about 50 feet, step two trails are expected to be somewhat similar to step one: fast, pedal-powered flow, early and intermediate level riders through quite tight oak trees.

West of the Montiselo Lake, PTD will also build a four-mile loop, which is being designed and created with NICA training and racing. They also intend to connect some small jump lines on that side of the lake.

By June 2025, PTD is already on the ground, marking the trails for step two. “We are waiting at the Arkansas Transport Department to complete the contracts before breaking the land,” Ghunagale said.

Once those contracts are signed and the construction of PTD begins, Gungle told us that they estimate to complete the eleven miles of eleven miles in 10 to 12 months.

Gunagle also shared that an important part of funding for Lakeware Trail System came through a recreational trails program (RTP) grant from Arkansus’ Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). The current funds for both stages of the project are more than $ 500,000.

With the help of the newly formed trail Advockey Group Tod, Gunagle said that the city of Montiselo would also be involved with trail maintenance. He also stated that this is another excellent example of a city that recognizes the benefits that the trails can bring to the community.

“We think it is fantastic that the city of Monticello recognizes the value of experiencing nature through external entertainment,” Gunagale said. “Trails provide access to these experiences. These experiences increase the quality of life and contribute to the health and welfare of their citizens and fields.”

And, if your mathematics shows only 17 miles between one and two, you are not wrong. The remaining eight or so many miles will depend on the annual money for future stages to reach the target of 25 miles.
