After Israeli bombings, Iran signals strategic shift on nuclear commitments; mulls Non-Proliferation Treaty exit

As Israel continues to target nuclear sites in Iran, Tehran said on Monday that his MPs are preparing a bill that would push it out of the nuclear non -proliferation treaty. According to a report by Reuters, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Exmiel Bagei said, “In the light of recent developments, we will take a proper decision. The government will have to implement Parliament bills, but such a proposal is being prepared and we will coordinate with Parliament in later stages.” Meanwhile, he also reiterated Tehran’s official stance against developing nuclear weapons.Is Iran violating NPT? This comes amidst increasing tension between Israel and Iran as the two countries continue to launch missile waves on each other. The time of this statement is also important, as Israel alleged that Iran is on the verge of making atomic bombs. However, Iran denied the allegations, saying that its nuclear program is peaceful. Iran’s President Masaud Peseshkian on Monday echoed the situation that nuclear weapons violate the country’s main religious principles.But last week, IAEA said Iran violated its NPT obligations. Bagei said that recent Israeli attacks and IAEA Sankalp played a direct role in Tehran’s strategic revaluation. “The voters for the resolution prepared the land for the attack,” he said.The 1970 Treaty prohibits signators by advancing nuclear weapons by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to reach the civil nuclear technology and oversight.Proposal in initial stages According to the Reuters report, no decision to leave the NPR has been made yet, but the proposal is in the initial stages of the legal process. Meanwhile, Bajei criticized its nuclear stance of Israel, stating that the country is not a signator for the NPT and is widely considered an officer of an undeclared nuclear arsenal. “Zione is the only officer of weapons of mass destruction in the region,” he said.
