Ahaan Panday, Aneet Padda Starrer Becomes Biggest Hindi Debut Film

Saiyaara box office collection: The numbers are in, and ‘Saiyaara’ has taken off in a way few expected. Featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the Mohit Suri directorial has delivered a sensational start at the box office, grossing ₹19.6 crore on its opening day, according to Sacnilk. The romantic drama has now secured a place in the record books as one of the highest first-day earners of the year- and the biggest opening for a Hindi film led by debutants.

Saiyaara – a surprise winner

Produced by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani, ‘Saiyaara’ entered theatres with moderate expectations but significant curiosity, thanks in part to its music and Suri’s reputation for heartfelt romances. According to data from Sacnilk, the film recorded a 44.33% occupancy in the Hindi market on Friday—an impressive feat, particularly for a film headlined by fresh faces.

To put the numbers in perspective: Aamir Khan’s ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ opened at ₹10.7 crore, while Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sky Force’, released over a holiday weekend, managed ₹12.25 crore on day one. ‘Saiyaara’, with no major star power to lean on, has outpaced both.

Saiyaara breaks Dhadak’s record

With its day-one figure, ‘Saiyaara’ has now overtaken ‘Dhadak’ (2018)—which introduced Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter—as the highest opening-day grosser for a Hindi film featuring debut leads. ‘Dhadak’ had posted ₹8.76 crore on its first day.

Saiyaara review

The film’s lead-up saw growing excitement online, largely driven by its soundtrack. The title track, in particular, has gone viral, gaining traction across social media platforms since the film’s release.

The film has largely got positive reviews from the critics. An excerpt from the ABP Live review read, “Saiyaara’ is far from the hype created around it, but it is an earnest and watchable film. Powered by strong performances—especially from its leads—and a treatment that finds emotional depth in familiar territory, it’s a solid debut for Ahaan Panday. It may not be a masterpiece, but it’s definitely worth a watch.” Read full review here.
