In a statement, Air India confirmed that diversion was a precautionary measure and the aircraft landed safely without any incident.
“Air India Flight AI357, working from Henada to Delhi on 29 June 2025, gave a precautionary twist to Kolkata due to the frequent warm temperature experienced in the cabin. The aircraft landed safely in the collata and currently undergoing a check,” an airline Spoccesson said.
According to the news agency, the airline said that the ground employees in Kolkata are assisting passengers with refreshments and arranging alternative flights in Delhi on the earliest.

Ahmedabad accident adds long shadow
Two days ago, on 27 June, Air India flight AI639 from Mumbai to Chennai was forced to return to Mumbai immediately after the takeoff after detecting a burning smell inside the cabin. The airline stated that the flight landed safely, and passengers were adjusted to another aircraft. In a separate episode on the same day, Air India reported a non-specific security alert on one of its aircraft. Standard safety procedures were performed, and the aircraft was later cleaned for its next flight. On Friday, a third incident was marked by a third incident as Jammu had to return the middle-objection due to a technical issue due to the flight of an Air India Express from Delhi to Jammu. Passengers were transferred to an alternative aircraft to complete their journey.
Many of these incidents have attracted attention to operational safety and credibility in India’s aviation sector, especially after the Air India Flight AI -171 accident near Ahmedabad on 12 June, which claimed 260 lives.
The tragedy has inspired a series of internal inspections and intensify the regulator probe.
