India suffered a five -wicket defeat against England in the initial test of the five -match series in Leeds. All -rounder Sharadul Thakur did a disappointing outing, both scoring just five runs in the innings and taking only two wickets, questioning his place in playing XI.

Shardul Thakur bowled just 16 overs in the entire match, suggesting that Captain Shubman Gill lacked confidence in using them on a flat headingley pitch in Leeds.

India’s cricketer Ajinkya Rahane highlighted the importance of an all -rounder in the team and urged Gill to perform Sharadul independently.

“I think the role of an all -rounder is very important. Shardul Thakur has been an experienced player and he has done well in Test cricket abroad. I want to see more overs than Shardul. If the Indian team can use Shardul Thakur better, he will really be very good.” Methods, “said,” Rahane said “

“With Duke Ball, it usually starts behaving after 10 or 12 overs. If Sharadul Bumrah can start bowling and Siraj can come as a change, it will be great. I would like to see Shardul bowling in more overs. He will give you more wickets, he will get more wickets,” he said.

Rahane praised Jasprit Bumrah for his bowling performance, but also pointed to fingers on other bowlers, making him to move and take responsibility.

“Bumrah’s five wickets were amazing in the first innings. Apart from what I liked about Bumrah, apart from his five wickets, the way he was walking in his run-up. His intensity was amazing during his bowling. The line and length that he bowled. He was aggressive in his bowling point of view.”

“What I want to see is support from the other end. Bumrah is clearly bowling the length of his attack, but if he can support Siraj and Prasad, it will be great for him. You don’t want Bumrah to go under pressure and bowl a lot of overs and the pressure comes in the team.

India will face England in the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham starting on 2 July.
