The US and Britain have asked their citizens to give shelter “until the next notice” in Qatar.

In a statement, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said that many countries were urging precautions, but the notice of the embassy “did not necessarily reflect the existence of specific threats”.
The statement said, “The security situation in the country is stable,” stating that “the concerned officers are closely monitored and are ready to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens, residents and visitors”.
Qatar is the home of the largest American military base in the Middle East, Al Udid Air Base. According to the State Department, around 8,000 American citizens live there.
There are about 40,000 soldiers deployed in the Middle East in the US.
Following the message of the US embassy, other groups were warned in Qatar, including several universities who asked students to go home.
According to the State Department, bilateral relations between the US and Qatar are “strong”, which says Qatar has helped play a financial, political and military role in dealing with the upheaval in the region.
