Bali flights canceled after Levotobi volcano in Indonesia

One of the country’s most active volcanoes has been canceled or delayed from Indonesian Resort Island in Bali after one.

The country’s volcanic agency said that Mount Levotobi Lucky-Lucky on the island of Floors on Tuesday at 17:35 local time (10:35 BST) split an ash tower over 11 km (6.8 mi) in the sky.

No casualties have been reported. The authorities have increased the highest vigilant level and advised the residents to avoid activities within 7 km radius around the crater.

Air India, Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Juniao Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia were among those who canceled flights from Bali, located in the west of the floors.

Several domestic AirAsia flights leaving for floors have also been canceled.

In November, twin-picker volcanoes exploded several times, killing nine people and thousands of people were forced to flee.

Muhammad Wafid, head of the Geology Agency, warned of a potential lahr flood – a type of mud or debris flows of volcanic material – if heavy rains.

The residents were also urged to wear a face mask to protect themselves from the ash of the volcano.

The National Disaster Mitigation Agency said that at least one village was vacated, and many others outside the exclusion area were reported to be ashes.

A spokesperson called the residents around the volcano “to empty safe places” as the shock was detected, indicating the ongoing volcanic activity.

The Indonesia Pacific sits on the “Ring of Fire”, where tectonic plates collide, often causing volcanic activity as well as earthquakes.

Laki-Laki, which means “man” in Indonesian, is twin with a cool 1,703m, named 1,703 meters, which is Indonesian word for “Woman”.
