In the UNESCO World Heritage Area Nillu Reef, coral has suffered a massive bleaching, which scientists have called “maritime heatwaves”.

Coral prevents biodiversity on a large scale and protects the coasts from extreme weather – so anything can be done to save it?

The BBC’s Katy Watson went to the remote Western Australian rock to find out whether the loss could be undone.
