Sedona, the trail maps of Arizona, show a spiderwab of trails exiting the city’s central hub. Adding one or two trails here and there, like Radicalis noted. Given a limited place, it is difficult to imagine to fit any more trails in the surrounding mess.

Nevertheless, more trails are coming … and not only a few. Over the next few years, the singletrack will be added to the Turkish Creek Zone in Sedona at a large scale.

Mountain Bike Curable: Sedona, Az

Every year, 3.5 million visitors travel to Sedona, a city of around 10,000 residents. The outdoor is the bridge of the entertainment area, with the picturesque landscape that appears that they came out of a postcard. Mountain biking tourism represents about 15%of those visitors, or 525,000.

But Mountain Biking was not always so popular in this city of Arizona.

“This was not the greatest connection with the land managers,” Lars Romag told us. Romeing Sedona is a board member for a fire fighter/paramedic and Varde Valley Cycling Alliance (VVCC), an organization that has been for twenty years. He is also the brain behind Sedona’s newest Double Black Diamond, Hardline.

,[There was] A lot of struggle between land management and bicycle communities for mountain bikes. Over the years, it has been a major change in building a lot of relationships [with land managers] Where we had good, reliable relationships and a really active approach to planning and construction, ”Romeg continued.

Thanks to the dedication of local mountain bikers and groups such as VVCC to promote strong relations with land managers, Sedona is today developed in Mountain Bike Mecca. Sedona has hundreds of trails, with terrain, facilities and scenes like elsewhere.

And the network is still growing in places like Turkish Creek.

New trails coming in Turkish Creek Trail System

In 2013, the VVCC National Park Service (NPS) and their rivers, trails and conservation assistance (RTCA) program went through a public planning process for the Red Rock Ranger District (RRD). As a result of this plan process, trails such as highline, hangover and hog were valid and manufactured, and the concept for hardline was also under the plan. Other trails like Thunder Mountain, Eri and Teachup were also in the plan, whether it is new construction or again root.

Turkish Creek is located at the southern end of Sedona and can be accessed through the village of Oak Creek. If you ride some of Sedona’s most reputable trails, you are likely to be at the door of Turkish Creek.

To ride the infamous of Sedona Hillin The trail, most of the mountain bikers will usually park at the Cathedral Rock Trailhead and take Templeton from the slim shed, which will connect to the hillin. Broadly, at a distance of one and a half miles in the hillin, where the transapting begins, the valley is a magnificent vista. There is a Turkish creek region across the valley and raiderrock landscape.

Some established trails are already present in the area. The first main mark goes by the same name – Turkey creek -The a black diamond out-back stretching at a distance of 4.5 miles from the trilehead. At a distance of 4.5 miles, the riders can expect a climb more than 1000 feet, which when you move around and go back to the trailhead, switch to land.

Fresh Singlecrac on Dale Sol Trail

Dal sole The area has the second main mark, and it was recently completed. Dell Sol is an intermediate trail that is spread at a distance of three miles from the end of the transapt, where it is 445 feet, which ends on the Turkish Creek Trailhead.

“Dale Sol is definitely an easy mark. I would call it green for light blue color,” said Rome. “Of course, because it’s Sedonna, we get rock leads there.”

Anyone who rides in Sedona knows that a “green” Sedona Trail is a blue elsewhere. The technical aspect of each mark cannot be understood, which gives rise to phrases such as “Sedona Mile”.

However, Romeig said that he tried to make del Sol with as much flow as possible, saying that the mark would not be too bad on a hardtail or a completely rigid bike. Although this is certainly not what you can expect for Sedonna’s ride, Romeg said that it was deliberately done to give a break to the riders until they moved forward in the Turkish Creek Trail system.

Romeg told us that he took advantage of some existing social trails in the construction of Dale Sol. With several changes on the way, about half a mark was made using those social corridors, while the other half was a new construction.

VVCC is still searching for the Turkish Creek region to see if it is possible

With the completion of the del Sol, trails will appear at a distance of about 32 and miles in the area. VVCC is still uncertain how many trail segments will be made in Turkish Creek at a full 35 miles. The group is working hard to detect existing social trails that were used to create a trail corridor in early scoping. As the trail corridors improve their understanding, they will get a clear picture of how many trail segments will be included in the final system.

While the total number of trails is still unknown, Romeing told us that riders can expect a stacked loop where the trails become more difficult that you find in the network. Turkish Creek also has a slight height than other areas of Sedona. More difficult trails will be built at high altitude. Some trails are planned to reach 5,000 feet, and 900-foot descending are teased, which are sufficient for the region.

Several other trails of the system will distribute classic Sedona Experience – Technical, Panch Up and Rowdy Downs along the rugged terrain. The elevation trail maps look like an EKG machine instead of long climbing with a long descent. Turkish Creek is expected to have greens, blues and blacks. And while there can be no double black trails, Romeing told us that there will definitely be some double black moves.

Common methods are being used for the Turkish Creek project for the financing of new trails – grants, private donations and funds. Funds are being actively raised by groups such as Sedona Redrocks Trail Fund and VVCC. VVCC has participated with Rockshox to shut down a fork Of winner’s choice. The fund from the Refle will go to the Turkish Creek Project.

Varde Valley Valley plays a specially interesting role in the trail projects of Fun Sedona. Wheel Fun partially supports the salary of the One Services Trail Builders, making new trails possible at a distance of 35 miles in three years.
