In March, Apple delayed his upgrade Siri and said that “it is going to take us for a long time as we thought we thought to distribute the promised features.” This week, at WWDC, Apple’s SVP of Software Craig Federaghi and worldwide marketing SVP Greg Josaviaq shared more information about the decision to delay an interview. The Wall Street Journal Jona Stern,
As part of its early apple intelligence announcements in WWDC 2024, Apple said that better Siri would be aware of your personal references and your ability to take action in apps. When Apple was showing real software in the show, Siri “in this way, the quality-wise, the way we needed it was not,” Federghi said. Apple wanted it “really, really reliable. And we were not able to achieve credibility when we thought.”
“Look, we don’t want to disappoint customers,” Josweic said. “We never do. But it is more disappointing to do something that did not hit our quality standard, it was an error rate we felt that was unacceptable. So what we thought was the best decision. I would make it again.”
Stern asked why Apple, with all his resources, could not do it. “When it comes to automatic the capabilities on equipment when it comes to a reliable way, no one is really doing it well,” Federghi said. “We wanted to be first. We wanted to do it best.” While the company had “very initial results and initial versions working,” the team felt that “it doesn’t just work enough to be an apple product,” he said.
