Dharamshala, India – The Dalai Lama turned 90, surrounded by thousands of followers on Sunday, thrown into the Himalayan city of Dharamshala, where the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism has been living in exile since fleeing the Chinese rule in Tibet in 1959.

The head of the democratically elected Tibetan government, Pempa Tsingering raised the Tibetan flag as musicians played the Tibetan anthem.

The world recognized worldwide, Tenzin Gateo, 14th Dalai Lama, describes herself as a “simple Buddhist monk” in her red clothes and wide smiles. But millions of Tibetan Buddhists worship him as living expressions of Chenrejing, a Buddhist deity of compassion.

One week of celebration faced birthday events

The birthday party rescued a week -long function, during which the Nobel Peace Prize winner said that he is planning to rebirth after his death, to end the years of speculation that he could be the last person to play the role. He also said that the next Dalai Lama should be recognized according to previous Buddhist traditions.

On Saturday, the Dalai Lama said that she is expected to live by the age of 130.

In the past, the Dalai Lama has said that his successor will be born in “independent world” – outside China. Many exiled Tibetans, however, would name their successor to the Dalai Lama to control China Tibet, an area that was inserted in 1950 and ruled since then.

China, which sees the Dalai Lama as a separatist, has repeatedly stated that it has the right to approve the next spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism alone. It also says that it will reject anyone selected without the consent of Beijing.

World leaders and celebrities sent wishes

Dignitaries, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US State Secretary Marco Rubio, sent their wishes to the Tibetan leader.

Modi said that the Dalai Lama has been a permanent symbol of “love, compassion, patience and moral discipline,” while Rubio said that the Buddhist spiritual leader “inspires people by embellishing the message of unity, peace and compassion.”

The festival was also attended by hundreds of followers from all over the world including Hollywood film star Richard Gere.

Gere said, “He is the most extraordinary man to walk on this planet,” said Gere, as the crowd broke in a luxurious applause.

In a birthday message on his website on Saturday, the Dalai Lama reiterated that he was “just an ordinary Buddhist monk” and “he would continue to focus on my commitments to promote human values ​​to human values.”

Celebrations were also held in Kathmandu, Nepal, where hundreds of Tibetan refugees, monks and foreign diplomats marked the day with Buddhist prayers, chanting and dance.

The Dalai Lama was insisting on the Tibetan throne in 1937. Soon after, the Chinese soldiers swept away their homeland in the 1950s and crushed a failed rebellion, forcing them to flee India with thousands of followers, where they established a government in exile.

Since then, he has spent more than seven decades in exile and has maintained a nation in exile by creating a community that keeps the Tibetan culture and identity alive. The Dalai Lama has also become one of the world’s most recognizable figures, while Tibetan leads a Tibetan migrant through his struggle to protest autonomy and Tibet’s control.
