Public Works Department Minister Parvesh Verma Said that 415 km out of 1,400 km under his department will be taken to strengthen under the project.
Verma said that many roads were in a state of chaos for the last seven-eight years and were filled with pits and broken parts. He alleged that the previous government never took advantage of money to do repair work despite the central assistance available.
“We have decided to completely replace the face of the city roads by doing large -scale strengthening work. We have already repaired more than 150 km of PWD roads because we have formed this February, while another 100 km will be completed soon.
Officials told TOI that the arterial roads under the jurisdiction of PWD are strong every five years. While money is available for new projects under CRF, officials said, roads can also be strengthened under this scheme.
PWD has come up with a long list of roads in its jurisdiction in its jurisdiction that requires repair. They will be revived using central funds. The list has been sent for approval of central roads, transport and highways. All arterial roads and various flyovers have been included in the projects in many parts of Ring Road and Outer Ring Road, parts of Mathura Road, Mehraoli-Badurpur Road, Mehraoli-Gurgaon Road, Africa Avenue, Barapullah Road, Najafgarh. The department has mentioned the length of each road, which finally repairs to repair their resurrection. While some of these roads are long, measure 2-5 km, many are small even a few hundred meters.
According to Verma, the PWD will simultaneously repair pavements and drains with state funds. “Earlier, the contractors used to repair the road first, then another contractor will come and repair the pavement, and a third will dig the drain to fix it. Now we have decided to give a comprehensive tender to the contractors to repair roads, pavements and drains,” Verma said. It will be the responsibility of the contractor to do regular maintenance work for the next three-five years, till the time of their next restoration.
