The arrest of popular actor Srikanth, known for his work in Tamil and Telugu films, has highlighted a criminal network in a drug -related case which is more spread than the intake and distribution of drugs. Officials say that the network also includes crimes like land grabbing, job racket, and more.
The police sent Srikanth to judicial custody till 7 July on Tuesday in connection with the drug case for more than eight hours in connection with the drug case on Tuesday. Their blood samples, taken to determine the presence of drugs, conducted a positive test, the police confirmed. The medical examination was held at Kilpack Medical College Hospital in Chennai.
According to the police, Srikanth’s arrest followed the collection of adequate evidence against him. The police said in a statement, “Actor Srikanth, who received and used cocaine, was under a medical examination. His financial transactions were reviewed, and his residences were well discovered before arresting with appropriate evidence,” in a statement, as PTI said.
Who are Prasad and other accused?
According to PTI report, T Prasad, a prominent accused in criminal network, exposed to Srikanth’s arrest, has also been detained. Police allege that Prasad supplied cocaine to Srikanth and another actor.
Prasad was first arrested on 22 May in connection with a fluffy dispute in a pub. He and his colleague, Ajay Vandiar – are allegedly involved in the grabbing land in the criminal network. Investigations show that they threatened landlords in Chennai and other areas, prepared fake documents to seize properties related to persons living abroad.
Apart from Prasad and Vandiyar, other individuals were reportedly involved in crimes – Nagendra Sethupathi, Chandrashekhar and Shivsankaran. A head constable with the Armed Reserve Police, who was allegedly in close contact with Prasad and others, has been taken into custody similarly.
Officers are also investigating the transfer of funds made through an organization run by Ajay Vandiair. So far, three cases have been registered against Vandia and her colleagues. Overall, the police have made 22 arrests and five details under the Gondas Act.
Police statement said, “Prasad, Ajay Vandiaar, and their allies have been involved in crimes such as government job racket, land grabbing, land registry and IT department and illegal activities related to drug trafficking,”.
