Ecoster hopes that one of the two payments in the coming week, it has bought itself for some time to interact with FCC. Brendon Carr, president of the regulatory agency, has earlier threatened to snatch some spectrum licenses of Ecostar. The second interest payment due to July 1, which will not pay the ecoStar, comes in $ 114 million and from refusing to pay, the 30-day grace period is triggered.
While the Ecostar has enough cash to pay both interests on time, the company is prohibiting one of them to avail some advantage in the conversation with FCC. Carr wants to leave the license on the EcoStar spectrum that he says that the company is not using. The FCC chairman said, “It is my view that now, we are really working hard to ensure that this valuable public resources of spectrum have been kept to use. There is no new news to break, but I think there is a need to change the status quo. There are many different ways and all the options are still on the table on FCC.”
“We need to move quickly. I think there is a narrow window of opportunity here, but FCC still has our action that is sitting there and we will see if we need to rebuild those people.”
-FCC President Brendon Car
Former FCC Chief of Staff Blair Levine, who now works as a policy analyst in New Street Research, says Carr “wants to force a revaluation of the spectrum to others from the Ecostar.” What Levin is talking about, there is a 2 GHz spectrum licensed by Ecostar, which FCC President Carr asked Ecostar in a letter. Carr wants to know how many times the Ecostar is using 2 GHz bands.
Carr is so interested in the use of Ecostar’s 2 GHz 2 GHz 2 GHz spectrum of Elon Musk’s SpaceX as it is better for satellites for cellphone communication that uses SpaceX. The FCC president did not comment on attending the White House earlier this month with President Donald Trump and EcoStar President Charlie Argon.
