Local government officials and police officials told the AFP news agency that at least 16 Pakistani soldiers were killed and more than two dozen people were injured, in which citizens were involved in a suicide attack on Saturday.“A suicide bomber surrounded an explosive vehicle in a military convoy,” said a local government official in the northern Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.He said that 16 soldiers were killed, already reported about the toll of 13.A police officer posted in the district told AFP, “The explosion also dropped the roofs of two houses, injuring six children.”The attack was claimed by a suicide bomber wing of Hafiz Gul Bahadur Armed Group by a faction of the Pakistan Taliban.Pakistan has seen a sharp increase in violence in its regions during the Afghanistan border as the Taliban returned to power in Kabul in 2021, with Islamabad accused his western neighbor that he is allowing his soil to be used for attacks against Pakistan – a claim that Taliban refuses.According to AFP Tally, about 290 people, mostly security officers, have been killed in attacks since the beginning of the year by armed groups fighting the government in both Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
