Officials said on Saturday that the upcoming International Film City Project in Sector 21 of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) with Yamuna Expressway will be closed on 26 June with a foundation laying ceremony. The first phase of the project is estimated to be completed within 18 months after the work starts.
Byview is carrying out a consortium -project led by Filmmaker Boney Kapoor and Bhutani Group, which will be divided into three stages. The first phase will spread to 230 acres with an estimated cost 1,510 crores.
According to Boney Kapoor, in the first phase of the project, several film studios and sound stages will be produced and the shooting of films will begin within 18 months. Rajiv Arora, General Manager of BayView Bhutani Film City Pvt Ltd, said that Yeida had approved the layout scheme for the first phase on 16 June.
It will also include post-production units, a runway, helipad, parliament house, “Char Dham” themed set and a gallery similar to solar-operated places. Byview Projects LLP and Bhutani Group offered a gross revenue stake bid of 18 percent in the project.
After releasing the award letter, a concession agreement was signed between Yeda and concessional representative Boney Kapoor on 27 June, 2024. As per the agreement, the concession was handed over to the concession on February 27, 2025.
The project will be completed in three phases spread over 1,000 acres in the next eight years. In the first phase, the construction will be on 230 acres and in the future, the remaining 770 acres will be in the second and third stages.
In the first 230 acres, the main structures such as the film studio, sound stage, post-production units and a film institute will be made in 155 acres, while a commercial center with retail will be developed on the remaining 75 acres with offices and recreation complexes.
