France bans outdoor smoking: Parks, beaches, schools included; cites child safety

France will ban smoking on beaches in parks, public parks and bus shelters from Sunday, the government announced. On Saturday, the official government also imposes ban on libraries, swimming pools and smoking outside schools to protect children from passive smoking. Electronic cigarettes are not mentioned in the decree. Individuals violating the ban will be fined 135 euros ($ 158).
