‘From earning Rs 600 per day to Team India’: The architect Varun Chakaravarthy, who designed his dream | Cricket News

Indian cricketer Varun Chakarwarthi has opened his remarkable career journey before achieving success on the cricket field – a path that included an architect, musician and even stent as a filmmaker. “For a brief tenure, I picked up the guitar because I wanted to wake up my love again for music. But soon I realized that if you want to pursue some art, love would have to come from within. If your goal is to please others or draw attention to others, I was not able to practice the guitar for more than an hour.

This was followed by an entrepreneurial tenure: he started his interior design and construction firm, which lasted well for a year until cyclone Vardha erased his investment. Chakarwarthi switched to the film industry, trying his luck as a junior artist. “Some of my friends were part of the film industry, and I started watching a lot of films and whatever was happening was with them to shoot to see. I went there with the intention of becoming an assistant director, but did not work. I could not even make a proper pitch. An advertisement then asked me if I had played cricket. I said, ‘Only tennis-ball cricket.’ So I got to act in this film, where I was signed as a junior artist with a salary of INR 600 per day. He even tried his hand in filmmaking, directed some short films playing tennis-ball cricket over the weekend. “The shoot went for 20 days and I liked the whole process. Then I started writing some stories, scripts, but when I picked some people, I realized that I was getting my feelings right, but I was not able to translate them as a screenplay. I directed some short films.” On the cricket field, he has come a long way. Varun recently made a strong comeback with nine wickets in India’s Champions Trophy victory, ranging from being selected for the 2021 T20 World Cup to failures of injury. The Kolkata Knight Riders spinner is set to return to India’s white-ball fixtures on a tour of Bangladesh in August.
