Since its launch, Mithun has used a blue-violet shield to separate itself from other AI devices. The icon design features a four-plated sparkle, which has now become a visible shorthand in the AI space. But with many other platforms using similar designs, it is understood that Google would like to clarify its identity.
The updated version of the Gemini icon holds the shape of the same glow, but each point now has a different color: blue, red, yellow and green. The icon is mostly blue on the right, while the left contains a subtle shield for additional depth. This new form aligns more closely with the late ‘G’ logo which was recently rolled out by Google.

This latest change was seen in the beta version 16.25 of Google App on Android. So far, the icon has appeared in only one place: during the generation of the audio overview. It has not yet been rolled out more widely in the Gemini app on Android, iOS or desktop. However, this limited appearance may be preview of the coming time.

This is not the first time Google has accommodated Gemini branding. Back in April, the company slightly changed the icon colors to see the app more visible on the homescreen. And in May, when Mithun Advanced was re -prepared for “AI Premium”, the red version of Mithun logo disappeared quietly.
While this new multi-colored icon may look like a small update, it shows a more intentional branding trick. AI with AI services growing on Google platforms, having a clear and consistent design helps users to separate the products. It also helps to feel the Gemini icon more tied to the Google brand.
From the perspective of branding, this change makes sense. The new color treatment confirms the fact that it is the AI product of Google, not only another assistant. With its new look, the Gemini icon now stands out more clearly in the sea of similar designs.
We have to wait and see if this updated design soon rolls more widely. But this is another step towards feeling Gemini like a central part of Google’s AI schemes.
