Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra on Saturday said that glass pieces were found scattered along the Kanwar Yatra route for nearly a kilometer in Shahdara.
Shortly after receiving information, Delhi Police took cognizance of the matter, confirming that broken glass pieces were found on the road. The Delhi Police is now examining the CCTV footage from the area as part of the investigation.
In a post on X, Mishra said that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has taken cognizance of the incident and that an FIR will be filed by the PWD against those involved.
“Some mischievous elements scattered glass pieces along the Kanwar Yatra route for nearly a kilometer. PWD and municipal workers are cleaning the route. Local MLA Sanjay Goyal ji is present there. CM Rekha Gupta has personally taken cognizance of the incident,” he wrote on X.
“An FIR will be filed by PWD against the mischievous elements. No disruption will be allowed in the Kanwar Yatra,” the Delhi Minister added.

The Kanwar Yatra, which began on Friday (July 11), will continue till July 23 (Chaturdashi Tithi). It is expected to see a footfall of 15 to 20 lakh pilgrims in the national capital.
Special arrangements related to traffic, police and the municipal corporation have been made by the Delhi Police to ensure proper a smooth experience for devotees. CM Gupta also chaired a high-level meeting on Saturday to oversee the preparations to welcome the Kanwar Yatra devotees during the auspicious Shravan month.
After the meeting, she said that the Delhi government has registered a record number of 374 applications for setting up Kanwar camps as compared to last year’s 170.
