Labor MP Vicky Foxeroft has resigned as a whip on government schemes to cut disability benefits.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Foxcroft said that she understands the need to address the “constantly increasing welfare bill”, but said that individual freedom payment cuts and universal credit should not be part of the solution “.
He said that he “wrestled whether I should resign or stay in the government and fight for change from within”.
He said: “The sad thing is that now it seems that we are not going to achieve the changes that I wanted to see strict.”
She said that she would not be able to vote for the universal credit and personal freedom payment bill, which will be debated in Parliament on 1 July.
More than 100 labor MPs have expressed concern about the bill and the government can face a big rebellion from its own backbenchers when it talks about one vote.
Earlier this week, the Prime Minister Sir Kir Stmper reiterated his confidence in the proposed law, asking reporters: “We got to achieve reforms.”
