The warning signs were already shining as hundreds of youths celebrated the fourth celebration of the July public holiday, which was located on the banks of the Gwadalup River in Texas, in the Camp Mistic in an all-group Christian Summer Retreat.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a general warning called flood watch at 13:18 that afternoon for parts of the area including Ker County.

In the early hours of Friday, the outlook became more severe as NWS released a series of advanced warnings. The San Saba River, the Koncho River and the Colorado River were growing.

At 04.03, NWS sent a “particularly dangerous situation” alert, which is reserved for the most important and potentially fatal scenarios such as wildfire.

Another “particularly dangerous situation” warning was issued for the city of Kerville at 05.34 before dawn on Friday.

“Residents and campers should now look for high land! The flash on the banks of the river is expected to threaten life for floods,” the forecasts said.

“Automatic rain gauge indicates that a large and deadly flood wave is going under the Gwadalup River. Flash flooding is already happening.”

Such alerts are shared at NWS social media accounts and broadcast news outlets, but most people were sleeping.

13 -year -old Ellinore Leaster said small campers of the camp mystic were bunk in cabins close to Riverbank and were earlier for floods.

“The camp was completely destroyed,” Eleinor, which was pulled by helicopter, told the Associated Press News Agency. “It was really scary.”

Outside Kerville, the BBC met Jonathan and Brittany Rosas, as they came to see what was left from a relative’s house. Only the foundation remains.

Five people were at home on the night of Delus – mother and her child are still missing.

The teenage son, Leo, survived after snatching into the thorny wire, which prevented him from flowing. The boy is recovering in the hospital.

But the region is also known as “Flash Flood Ale”, as due to the recurring threat that has destroyed local communities for years.

Asked why the Rivaruside Summer Camp was not removed, the officials said that the sudden scale of deluse caught him unknown.

Ker County Judge Rob Kelly said, “Nobody knew that such a flood was coming.”
