The off-spinner revealed that his wife finally approached him at the hotel and informed him about the situation. Ashwin was ready to leave immediately but faced logistic obstacles.He said, “There was no flight immediately, and I was in Rajkot. The match was in balance. Ben Docket made a brilliant century. But Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid immediately asked me to go,” he said.“When the captains and coaches are very helpful, I felt that I want to come back. I play for those who give me importance.”Ashwin missed the remaining part of England on the first innings but re -included the squad in time to bowl in the second innings. He eventually retired with 537 Test wickets in 106 matches, including 37 five-wicket haols, which strengthens his legacy as one of the biggest bowlers in India.
