On Wednesday, Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama said that the organization of Dalai Lama will continue and only Gaden Fodrang Trust Will have the right to recognize your future rebirth.
Speaking to reporters here, Rijiju said that the Dalai Lama is a “most important and defined body” for Buddhists.
“And all those who follow the Dalai Lama feel that the avatar is to be set by the conference and according to the desire of the Dalai Lama himself. No one else has the right to decide it apart from the conferences in and in place,” Rijiju said.
After rejecting the succession plan of China’s Nobel Peace Prize winner, the minister’s comment came, insisting that any future successor should get its approval.
Rijiju, a practice Buddhist, and a fellow Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, is representing the Government of India on the 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama in Dharamshala on 6 July. The 14th Dalai Lama is the most important institution for Tibetans and all those who follow the Naland tradition of Buddhaism. PTI
