Industrial tunnel collapses in Los Angeles: At least 15 workers trapped; rescue ops under way

Officials said at least 15 workers may go underground after the alleged collapse of an industrial tunnel in Wilmington, North Carolina around 8 pm (local time) on Wednesday.More than 100 personnel of the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) are assigned in the emergency in 1701 N Figueroa ST, which serves as the only known entry point for the tunnel, LA Times said.Officials believe that according to LAFD, workers may be trapped six miles south of this access point. Specially trained and certified search and rescue teams are equipped for limited place tunnel rescue, sent to the site.Television footage showed that the first respondents gathered around a large open shaft at the scene.La Mayor Karen Bass said in a post on X, “The city of Los Angeles has collected resources for the collapse of the tunnel in Wilmington. More than 100 LAFD respondents have been deployed, including urban search and rescue teams. Thanks to all those who are working immediately to answer this emergency.” This is a developing story…
