In March, a two -month ceasefire collapsed when Israel started fresh attacks on Gaza. It said that it wanted to pressurize Hamas to leave its hostages.
Israel also bought a total blockade on humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza in early March, partially reduced after 11 weeks after pressure from American colleagues and warned global experts that half a million people were facing starvation.
That partial ease included the construction of a US and the Israeli-supported support group, Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), when Israel accused Hamas of stealing assistance. Hamas has denied this.

Stage 2 includes the establishment of a permanent ceasefire, the return of the remaining hostages in Gaza in exchange for the Palestinians imprisoned in Israel and the complete return of the Israeli forces from Gaza.
Trump has abandoned the ongoing corruption charges against Netanyahu, describing the proceedings as a “political witch hunting”, which delayed the ceasefire negotiations.
