Jack Miller and Andrea Locately each participated in their first pre-event test for 8 hours this week on 3-4 July this week, with both the Europe-based Yamaha Racing Team Riders with positive conclusions.
For Miller and Locately, the two-day test was the first taste of endurance-wisdom Yamaha R1.
Miller was returning to Suzuka track for the first time as he ran there during his time as Honda Motoogp In 2017, Rider, and Australian bikes were pleased with their initial impression.
“It was good to come back to Suzuka, especially with R1 – it’s very fun,” Jack Miller At the end of the two -day test.
“Long with Loca [Andrea Locatelli] Today went well; I think we did a good job together. The speed is good, the speed is fine, and I think during the weekend of the race we will get a little extra margin when it is needed – which is normal. Overall, it is nice to work with R1.
Miller said that he is still building comfort with the Suzuka track.
“I am getting more and more comfortable with Suzuka Circuit,” he said.
“This is a long track, and there are many areas where you can make a mistake. It is very difficult to try to put a right lap together, so today was getting ready for 8 hours about being comfortable with your mark and getting ready for Sujuka.”
Locatelli: “We have happy with faith”
Andrea Locatelli After a two-day test, positive indications were given, which is feeling material with its confidence on endurance-spec R1.
He said, “We have done a lot of work today, and we are really happy with the confidence that we have on a bike,” he said.
“Overall, it was much better than the first day – but it is normal. In a day, we needed to know the bike, track and a million things around this bike.
“It was a good day.
“I am eager for race weekends. We will have more time to keep improvement, feel more with the bike, get more experience with Bridhstone tires, and then I think we will really be able to enjoy the race.”
Locatelli said that he is still uncertain where he and Yamaha pile up other manufacturers and teams.
“Today I was on track with Jack [Miller]And I also rode alone, ”he said.
“We still don’t know exactly where we are standing when there are other contestants. We will need to investigate during the race weekend, but the team said that today Lap Times were not very bad.
“They were constantly, with no mistake – and this is the main thing in a patient race.
“I think, for the first time here in Suzuka, we did a great job, and I am very happy with the work I did.
“Of course, I am eager to go back and continue my WorldsBK Championship, but I can’t wait to come here again for the real Suzuka 8 -hour race weekend.”
Aadhaar setup “relief” by acceptance
Yamaha’s veteran and four -time Suzuka 8 -hour winner Katsuyuki Nakasuga had tested R1 in an official trial a few days before a private trial, in which Lokateli and Miller were aboard.
The Japanese rider stated that he was “relieved” to see that the Aadhaar setup he and Soiciro Minamimoto had developed by Europe-based riders.
“I think Jack here on a two -day test [Miller] And Loka [Andrea Locatelli] Got a grip with the bike, ”he said.
“I am relieved to see that the base setup we have kept together in the June Test is working well. Because it is a patient race, we have to share the same bike, so there are some things that we all had to adapt.
“But I think they both understood this well and used to improve their performance every time I went out. I could not ride today, but together we confirmed our tire options.
“Overall, I think it was a very good exam. The actual race would be different during the weekend, however, because there will be a different track position and we will have traffic on traffic.
“I’m sure we can increase our performance even more for the race weekend, but I would like to do it in a calm manner.
“Even at our current level, I think we can compete against our rivals. But if we can improve our communication a little more then we can definitely target for the top phase of the podium.”
