Johann Zarko cut his time gap from 17.4S to Dutch Motoogi winner in this year’s Grand Prix, but it was enough for only twelfth place and Mark Markes was lacking by 24.875S.
Zarco was one of the eleven riders to complete both 2024 and 2025 Motoogp The race, and only five riders to get close to victory this year.
“Some satisfaction to get four points after zero from Aragon and Mugelo,” ZarkoThe top Honda finisher was also followed by Joan Mir’s retirement.
“I had a big opportunity because when the riders crashed, I was in the eighth place, D Gianntonio was just behind. But it was impossible to follow.
“So it is hard to feel a step behind. But when you see the difference with the first rider, we did not return a big step.
“Last year we were 42 seconds away from the winner, today 24 (see table below). So we cannot see everything in a negative way.
“But because of the feeling on the bike and not being able to follow other riders, it was very difficult for me at the end of this week.
“Every time we had something positive, the next day we were taking one step behind.
“So maybe we reached some extent and I do not understand why we are not able to fix it.”
Zarco and Mark marks From last year, there were only 2025 finishers to improve their Assann race time.
Franco Morbideli (this year long lap penalty), Fabio Quartaro (who lost seven seconds to Fermine Eldeguer to avoid an accident on Sunday) and Raul Fernandez went close to victory despite a slow race.
At the other end of the spectrum, last year’s winner Francesko Bagania was one of the six riders to post more than 26 lapse time compared to 2024.
Former Ducati team partner Enea Bastianini faced the biggest decline, from +7 seconds (third) to +23 seconds (ninth) in Tech3 KTM:
