Kolkata law college gangrape live updates: A sensational gang rape case at South Calcutta Law College in Kolkata has shocked the entire West Bengal. The first -year student of the college was allegedly gang -raped by an alumni and two senior students inside the campus. On the complaint of the victim, the three accused have been arrested and the court has sent them to police custody for four days.
The main accused in this case is Manojit Mishra, who passed out from the college in 2022 and practice in Alipur court. Not only this, he has also been the former president of the Trinamool Students Council unit of the college and the organization secretary of the South Kolkata unit of TMC Students Organization. Many of his photos on social media have gone viral with the ruling TMC leaders.
The college administration has admitted that the accused was recently appointed as a non-teaching staff on a 45-day contract. While the police said that two other accused are the current college students and the victim is senior.
The victim said in her complaint that the accused was pressurizing her to marry, and on refusal, she was raped by holding hostage on the campus itself. Not only this, during the gang rape, a video of him was threatened that if he told anyone, this video will be put on the internet.
After this incident, the college administration and the state government are also in the dock. Deputy Principal Dr. Nayana Chatterjee said that she received information from the police that two rooms of the college have been sealed and they are trying to find out what has happened.
TMC described the incident as ‘painful’ and said that it should not be politicized. Minister Shashi Panja said that the state government is with the victim and her family. He took a sarcasm at the opposition and said that the Mamta government does not garland criminals and does not compromise with the dignity of women.
Women safety in Bengal is already a sensitive issue, and now this matter can give a new weapon to the opposition. At the same time, questions have also been raised about quick justice for the victim and security in college campus.
