Middle East conflict: Iran warns Israel may break ceasefire, says ‘prepared to give strong response’

The top military commander of Iran has expressed serious doubts over Israel’s commitment to the ceasefire ending the exchange of fire between the two countries.Talking to Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman on Sunday, the head of the Iran’s armed forces employees, Abdolrahim Mausvi warned that Tehran has been prepared to retaliate when it resumes.“We fully doubt about the observance of our commitments about the enemy (Israel), including the ceasefire, we are ready to give it a strong response. If it repeats the aggression,” he said, “He said,” Tehran’s semi-official Tasim news agency quoted by Reuters. “Although Iran did not start the war, Mousavi said, the country “responded to the aggressive with all our power.”Quoted by AFP, reported by State TV, “We have serious doubts about compliance with the enemy with its commitments, including the ceasefire, we are ready to respond with force.”The comment was made six days after the announcement of the ceasefire by US President Donald Trump, targeting Iran’s nuclear program on 13 June, with Israeli’s air strike, a nearly two -week -old battle ended.In the following days, Israel claimed that it has abolished about 30 senior Iranian commanders and 11 nuclear scientists, and targeted eight nuclear-related facilities along with over 720 military infrastructure sites. According to the US-based human rights activist group, more than 1,000, including at least 417 citizens died in the conflict.Iran forcefully retaliated, more than 550 ballistic missiles towards Israel. While the majority was stopped, the strike caused widespread damage and killed 28 people.In the weekend, Iran performed the state’s funerals for about 60 persons, including senior military officers and nuclear scientists, who were killed in the struggle.
