Multisensory Storytelling: This Is Why Disney Feels So Real (Even Though It’s Not)

The trip to Walt Disney World is one of the reasons as it seems like stepping into a different world, a world where buildings look long, the voice feels completely felt, and even the air is smelling like popcorn or freshly ripe behavior. You walk through these lands, Main Street, from the magic of USA to the foreign forest of Pendora, and you feel PuffyBut here the truth is that we all know behind our mind: None of it is real. It is all cautiously designed, designed by Walt Disney Images to create the illusion of reality. And mystery? This is called multicentensary storytelling.

This blog post presents the first episode in my new video series: Magic of the themed designIn this series, I am taking you behind the magic to find out how Disney’s design options create the moments we all love, but cannot always notice. And we are closing it with a deep dive in multicentensary storytelling.

In the video, I take you on a tour of some iconic Disney experiences that use multicentelling. we visit Pendora – World of AvatarWhere the glowing plants, foreign sounds, and subtle forest scents believe that you have landed on another planet. We investigate Campaign EverestWhere the sound of air on your face and the sound of roar winds feel the thrill ride like a true Himalayan adventure. And yes, we can’t forget Pirates of the CaribbeanA classic example of the layered story, where dim light, mastic odor, cannon explosion, and dominated your boat make you feel like a pirate on high seas.

So include me in this journey! I am very excited to kick Magic of the themed design The series and share what I have learned about the craft behind magic. Subscribe to my YouTube channel, leave a comment from the parks with your favorite sensory details, and stay for the future episodes, where we will detect even more Disney design secrets. Because once you understand how magic is made, you will appreciate it even more.

My personal trip

For those who do not know, my grandfather was an imaginner from the beginning. Vik Green joined the Walt’s team in 1954 and to help bring the Magic Kingdom into life in Walt Disney World. However, when I still had a child, he died, I have always felt a strong relationship through the parks he helped to create. Every time I walk on the main street, I see the details in a themed land, or catch the smell of popcorn in the air, I know I am stepping into the world that he helped to create. It is a reminder that the story can only be more than words … it is an inheritance that lives in Disney’s magic.

Let us convert every Disney journey to a Treasure Hunt for storytelling details and make every trip feel a little more magical.
