Naeem Khan recently engaged to model Madlena Kalinova, and the couple traveled together with Sophia, Bulgaria to celebrate their upcoming Nuptiles. (Kalinova is Bulgarian.) While the intention of traveling was to meet some family members of Kalinova and visit his native country, killing fashion inspiration while visiting Khan. “Bulgaria is very ignored, and he has such a wonderful culture,” says Khan. “It is one of the oldest civilizations in Europe.”
Lively architecture and absorbed in the environment, Khan withdrew his findings to his design studio, where he melted his own signature for the resort with Indian craftwork. Complex embroidery is a major fashion between the two cultures. Khan said, “His embroidery reminded me what we have in India.” Only in Bulgaria, designer notes, embroidery colors and patterns are too much saturated, a quality that he was motivated to translate into his signature evening dress, makes gowns and a great mixture of fabric with a joyful and excited feel.
The fringe opens a pair of clothes with dramatic tier made of Rafia.
