Ake started against Wydad AC in Philadelphia on Wednesday as City started its club World Cup campaign with a 2–0 win.
The 30 -year -old ended a disappointing season, with injuries to limit them to just 10 league performances.
City manager Pep Guardiola has indicated that he wants a sustainable player in his squad only after being surrounded by injuries in the previous season.
Ake hopes that her problems are behind her and she can provide herself.
“I feel good,” he said.
“I had my first 60 [minutes] With the national team, it was my first 90 [against Wydad] To come so clearly in a while but it was important in the game group and this is a good start for me.
“It was very difficult [last season]I basically always tried to push, tried to come back as soon as possible.
“Then I was again injured and mentally it can be difficult, it is never easy, but fortunately it is done now and hopefully I can stay fit and perform now.”
