The National Heart Center Singapore (NHCs) and Mayo Clinic have collaborated to accelerate heart innovation and research, and to promote knowledge for future cardiovascular care worldwide as part of a memorandum (MoU).
Powering cardiovascular care, research and knowledge exchange
Cooperation brings NHCS’s expertise together with the deepest understanding of Asian cardiac health. By setting up a collaborative platform for the Knowledge Exchange, the joint effort will expect to create new opportunities for success research and to accelerate the development of new treatment paradigms that will benefit the Asian and Global patient population.
The areas of many high priorities were identified as the initial stages for collaboration:
- Cardio-integology: An emerging area that focuses on the protection of heart health of cancer patients which is rapidly important in Asia, which is looking at the increasing burden of both heart and cancer conditions. Since cancer treatment can affect heart function, ensure comfortable integration of cardiology and oncology expertise optimal patient care. The Mayo Clinic has established special cardio-ocology clinics in various complexes to provide extensive heart care for cancer patients. Similarly, NHCS recognizes the importance of this field and integrated care strategies to increase the results of treatment and life quality in cancer patients. In clinical preferences, this alignment presents a valuable opportunity for both institutions to detect knowledge exchange, and potential collaborations in cardio-acquisition education, research and clinical care.
- Innovative healthcare solution to change heart care: This cooperation also brings supplementary strength in healthcare innovation, especially to improve patient care in novel biomarkers and digital imaging technologies, to benefit patients with complex conditions and set new standards for cardiac care in the area. A major focus field includes artificial intelligence-capable digital biomarckers and cardiac imaging. With this collaboration, the NHCS will contribute to its comprehensive cardiovascular database of the Asian population, including important conclusions from the landmark Sinhart1 Study. Together, the institutes will evaluate and increase the performance of AI-ECG algorithms among various Asian colleagues, their credibility, safety and ensure Efficacy,
- Aging and fraud: Health of aging population is an area of increasing concern. The initial identity of heart aging using prevention, including bio and digital markers, advanced imaging and novel therapy, is of mutual interest.
future plans
Further, NHCS and Mayo Clinic imagined co-development co-development to shared intellectual property, clinical protocols and guidelines that serve the Western and Asian population. This strategic alignment will accelerate innovation in cardiac care and promote the cross-actions of expertise to strengthen health professionals through training and education to influence heart care and results globally.
This collaboration brings two major academic cardiovascular centers together with similar values and strong commitment to the patient’s care to co-produce better results for our patients. Heart disease remains a leading health concern in Asia, making it important to resolve its challenges. With this collaboration, we aim to accelerate the development of solutions to suit the specific needs of our population when creating capabilities that will benefit future generations of health professionals. ,
Professor Yeho Khung Keong, Chief Executive Officer, NHCS
Professor Amir Larman, director of the Mayo Cardiovascular Research Center and Barbara Woodward Lips at Medicine at Mayo Clinic, said, “The Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular Research Center is ready to cooperate and shares the mutual vision of improvement in cardiovascular health worldwide.”
“We are ready to cooperate to increase the insight and equipment that will improve global heart health through screening, detection, therapy and an understanding of the disease system,” Professor Paul Freedman, Chair, Cardiovskular Medicine said Robert L. Fry, MD and Betty Knight Scrips – George M. Ginra, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD, MD.
This cooperation is the result of a two -day scientific meeting between NHCS and Mayo Clinic, supported by the Tanoto Foundation – an independent family foundation that catalyzes changes in the system in education, healthcare and leadership development.
